History and Mission

A century ago, in the aftermath of the catastrophic Flood of Light, the Kingdom of Voeburt collapsed and much of the area was abandoned. Seeking a new home, the Fae established what is now Il Mheg: the Kingdom of Rainbows. From the devastation they cultivated a thriving ecosystem and repurposed damaged historic structures. As Umbral Calamities and other disasters continue to affect not only the Source but all the Shards, the Il Mheg Nature Center celebrates the grit and resilience of nature and those who work to steward it.You can help! Take part by helping to preserve, protect, and cultivate refugia—tiny pockets of safety and survival from which life can return after a disaster—in your corner of the world.

Permanent Exhibits

A display shows a porxie and a Fuath surrounded by plants in front of a picture of Il Mheg

Il Mheg
The vast, hilly meadows that make up much of Il Mheg owe their remarkable biodiversity to the work of the Pixies and Amaro who reside there. Enjoy floating flowers, curling trees, and castle vistas

An exhibit of a messy library nods to the Bookman's Shelves

The Bookman's Shelves
This historic site was left largely unchanged on the exit of its former owner, an eclectic Voeburtite lord

St. Fathric's Temple Discovery Room
Young ones can read picture books about the Shards, splash in a cascade-themed water table, and leap to new heights among the clinquant stones that glitter with truegold and refracting crystals

A fish tank with a moonlit window in the background features a Fuath plush

Longmirror Lake
The lake supports many freshwater species in the sunken city of Deepwood Swim, the Fuath Forbidden Kingdom of Dohn Mheg, and beyond. Enjoy a touch tank exploring aquatic flora, which provide excellent habitats and oxygen to other species

Traveling Il Mheg: Tips and Best Practices

While undeniably beautiful, Il Mheg requires extra preparation for the savvy traveler. Doing your homework before you go will help ensure a safe, respectful, and delightful experience for all.Be a courteous guest
Among the Fae of Il Mheg, there are multiple cultures. Gift giving, pranking, and many other ways of life are different from those on the Source. Be sure to learn about your hosts' customs before you go.
A great resource is the Lyhe Ghiah Cultural Exchange Program, which provides dream-based remote learning opportunities. Not all places are open to visit: stay within approved tourism areas (and avoid the Forbidden Kingdom, Dohn Mheg.)Treat the environment and historic sites with respect: take only pictures and leave only footprints. Importantly, please obtain your verified looking grass and any fishing or hunting permits from the Norvrandt Tourism Bureau prior to your visit.

If not friend, why friend-shaped?
Il Mheg teems with wildlife unfamiliar to travelers from the Source. While they might seem cute and fuzzy, remember to keep wildlife wild. Attempting to feed, pet, play fetch with, or otherwise harass wildlife may result in fines, injury, or being turned into a leafman.
